An essay without offence...

As the one-third of my actual game was demolished because of a small construction error @ only one town, I wished to make a remix more, under the light of the last growths and lessons learned, as always by the hard way.

My aim is to put "all I can do" in this actual Game.

I realized with great fun and plaesure that in each remake, the discovery and exploration of the "never charted lands" of the Game is added to the "experience stash".. that creates in its turn the desire to explore more... and the circle continues.!

"The parameters or modules are already numerous (horizontal progress)...

and every module is to discover and develop in itself (vertical progress)..."

And once the player immerged to the vast ocean of firstly >> discover the correlations between >> And then to refine them.. This long progress of optimization guarantees the longevity and short / long term motivation.. either for solo/multi Gameplay..or wished good numbers of sales.. I am in great esteem, appreciation and confidence to all respectable creative minds in this new project, and I wished them best success..

Because of this long and full of fun gameplay lasted for nearly 10 years, in every time I shared my fun to the other friends, they partially became the players of Pat 3 also.. By the way, I may make buy at least 10 to 12 legal copies of the Pat 3 to my 'friends at court'... At Patrizier Online, I once founded a faction named (* Turkish Circle *) with more than 20 real members that played online together..

So a trade simulation may be profitable, and especially @ long term.. But in the making of this progress, the decision-maker is wished not to choose the easy / familiar way.. "Hunting" the eventual buyer with gorgeous(?) graphics.. This is 'Hunting by blinding the prey'...

This is exactly to say: " But we need those 3D graphics to be able to sell well(?) the Game".. Did/do you think a bit more on the sub/meaning of this approach? Firstly, this is even not guaranteed good sales even with 3D. Secondly, if decision maker put "3D" in front of a good Concept (pretext: no sufficient time for in-depth Concept, we will look it for Add-On; after seeing firstly the sales report).. it may reduce / kill its own possibility of a good Add-On, because of this first approach, as the sales may/risk/will not be satisfactory, to justify the creation of Add-On/s..

I must accept that it is now too late to discuss this 3D decision.. What's done is done.. But I am for a very good Concept, stratch from the beginning for Patrician 4. I also accept that this Game must be at shelves in the eve of Christmas. So the days are numbered.

If some players are praying for limitation or elimination of "kapern" with a motif of this practice unbalanced the Game .. >>> the decision-makers also must limit or exclude those "player kapern" by pointing blinding flash lights in the eventual players' eyes... As very humbly saying: "Neither some decision-makers are this intelligent, nor gaming communities are this dumb.."

Cumulative Fatigue Damage

Schöne abend an alle,

Winter just passed, production levels raised to more comfortable levels. The game is now in a more solid shape, no need to use stressing oxygene tents-operations or life support units anymore.. The main problem is time, real gaming time.. There is now so many things to do simultaneously, barely to cope with them..

I am cautiously applying a total control to the Game.. Actually (and for now!) my Game is error-free.. But it (the Game) is not happy at all for that.. In every hour that I play, I am feeling this very strongly.. It makes all its possible to resist, it grumbles like a rodeo-bull and moves furiously on my display, to toss me off .. It is trying to make all those wicked moves, like city-build houses or merchant build industries appeared under the most casus fortuitus.. even I am constantly buying all the Hanse Brick @ 9999 thalers apiece. Some pirate convoys suddenly appeared with 3 ships!! 3er pirate convoys will soon become habitual.. For the first time, I saw pirate ships with this aggression.. However, no pirate ships with cannons yet.. Local Lord tries to attack with 400 mercenaries even in Mars 1301...etc.

With some interpolation, I realized that even 34 Brickyards @ 32 cities will not be sufficient to satisfy the voracious appetit of the Turkish Building Technique, under planned tempo. As, even small advances earned very early in the Game returned thereafter with exponentially bigger benefits, >> the huge advances very early in the Game made me amazed of their dimensions: simply tremendous.!! Obviously I am limited by in-game time-flow; if this limitation would not exist, I will be finishing the Game very noticeably earlier..

So I projected to upgrade future Brick production firstly to 50/60 Yards at level 2 wall, and maybe 100/120 Yards / City, at level 3 wall. Of course, with all according productions for raw materials and population survival. I keep maintain most of my Brick, Timber and Hemp bulk at 2 very big construction convoys.. One moving clockwise at North Sea, while other at Baltic counter-clockwise; to meet at Gothenburg for exchanges.

There is precisely 100 pirate locations for "Pirate Hunter / Avenge My Brother" missions.. As I already said years ago, there are 20 towns for Pirate Maps, that made 10 *handshaking town couples*..! As one of them, say the Bremen-Danzig exemple, in these two cities, precisely 10 different Map/localities (bound exclusively to this couple) are given.. So 10 different city-couples, 10 x 10 = 100 different Maps..

Escort/Fugitive Missions are only undertaken with Crayer Convoys (x/4-5/4-5) for this precious "speed".

6 speedy (all captured - each 7500 fass capacity) crayer 30 (lvl-2) convoys are bound for Mediterranean.. They are buzzing without interruption to absorb ALL but ALL med production, without price bargaining.. like spice, pottery, cloth, wine etc., while liquidating my excess of beer production btw.

Rich: Always annoyed.
Wealthy: ca. 50% dissatisfied, 50% satisfied.
Poor: ca. 50% satisfied, 50% very satisfied.

No critical bottleneck.. A calculator do much good. So many stickies to take notes, laptop always running aside for MS Excel tables; either to browse or to fill them.. As Adalbertus once said, I would prefer keyboard shortcuts for most of the actions; mouse clicks are very time / energy consuming, thus counter-productive. Oh! Don't forget a kitchen alarm-clock.!

Fleet Tonnage??
:D

Long-Term Motivation.. Encore.!

If someone is still writing here after playing a Game of 10 years old, this is already a proof of the Pat2's success, about the subject.

Long-term motivation, I understand it either to play "the same single Game" for months, even for a whole year... or keep the natural desire to play this PC title (The Game), games after games..

If it is not too late, or sorry if it is already mentioned, here below some of my humble thoughts:

-------------------------------

The * Wirtschaft* Goal is... TO COLLECT...with...as much as OBJECTIVEs as possible.

So More:

Population ..... : Best motivation. Lifeblood. The more, the merrier.
Cities ............ : Units of civilization. Processor. The bigger, the better.
Ships ............ : Best logistics support. The earlier, the better.
Products ........ : Sources of energy. Ecosystem. The more varied, the healthier.
Discoveries .... : Crusades and Med World.. Benefits are motivating, a venture full of emotion.
Daring Missions : For the player, more *enticing* benefits against risky!! operations.

Killing effects:

Tiresome, easily mastered repetitions.
Lack of choices and ramifications.
Only one good solution.. Once mastered, finito!
Easy, unnecessary complications.

The *Sim* Goal is... TO BE PROUD of your game... A STRUCTURE, highly customisable, sophisticated enough.

Just imagine SimCity 4.

Special wishes:

A *very* appealing, very beautiful MAIN MAP.

Very Customisable Game Beginning Options.. Even for ship captures.. If someone wish to play without captures, just tick this (-) button. The same for Town Looting, or anything already criticized.. Let the doves be doves, and let the pirates be pirates... Without force majeure/jacobean limitations.

More detail and depth at Mediterranean World... Please do not exclude "Constantinople", terminus of the medieval Silk Road. If Izmir will be kept, please change its name to "Smyrna", because the former is a Turkish nomenclature.

Being the subject of a thread about some of my practices in the Game, I wish to express my posture.

As always, my pleasure is to explore and push the Game to its never reached very limits; and if there exists, having the fun to discover some easter eggs or tricks, always permitted in the "normal usage of the Game"... and therefore, use these tools for my immense fun!

So, since three years, I have a desire to gather 20 000 ships under the same flag, in a single Game. This time, I put my efforts for this "secondary" aim in my actual session; so I must be quick in ship gathering. 20 000 ships is difficult to be agglomerated by manual fights: I tried this at my last game some years ago.. not in my computer but in my mind the game was over, after nearly 16 000 ships.. So towards to end of the last year I undertook some trial and error learnings, to automate this task.

Theoretically, every fight in Patrician III (eng) may be concluded by an auto ship capture, whatever the ship or crew in target, between same one-to-one ship classes of course. I realized many times a cog 390 captured a hulk 550, both very well armed and staffed. Almost everybody must already see that, I admit the same in the versions of other languages. For automatic captures, at the very beginning, my principal aim, is to find the correct compilation of the Battle-ship/group. Once solidified this fact, the intermediate phase is to define maintenance elements and practices. And finally and most importantly, being able to (automatically) sort pirate units... thus provocating the *right* pirate to (make decide) to attack to the *right* absorbing group.

I made numerous essays with most combinations, the Logic and Parameters was given here, a couple of messages above. There are rather good performances, but my actual Game Log is now filled with too much captures of my own ships also. Of course, by pointing another group, I am mostly retaking my ships but this fact did not completely satisfied me. On the other hand, I actually have no desire to reserve some weeks (if not months) more to progress on these previous experiments... Playing my Actual Game already took me in so much fun that I don't want to make a stop and return to these isolating and not-so-lively laboratory tests; always without underestimating their values.

The trick Adalbertus mentioned, I did not know it; I thank to him for that. But this not seems add more about auto fights, as I already do very most of my fights in auto mode, even for Pirate Nest missions. I don't know by this practice of rendering a manual fight to auto.. will result by always winning the battle. If yes, this is really an exploit; if not:

=> I have to-date roundly 2 100 ships and maybe 80 to 100 times, there was overlapping battles while I manually action.. (Actually, the trend is towards lesser - because while bigger ships become abundant=> more auto engagement). And between of these 80/100 overlappings, already 70/75 were resulted "we captured"; the rest (mostly a 550 hulk as opponent) half of "we fled", half of is "they captured"... Very soon thereafter, most of "they captured" become "we recaptured".

In a vast and resourceful 40er City Game alike, possessing 2000 ships on hand in the opening phase is a blessing, and its benefits are tremendous; but it's clear that after reaching max. 10 000 ships, the rest will become superfluous. The point is that I don't look for an utility then; I am looking for 20 000 ships in a single game. What to do? Surely there will be some Mothballed Fleets at moorings... I do not know precisely yet. Maybe I will divert to equalize these 4 RegionalLager vis-a-vis the CentralLager, Göteborg. I imagine, there will be 4x1500er huge hulk convoys with huge numbers of goods in auto-dispatching between these. After all, this is great fun; either to have and share.. The actual problem is may well be, after a departure of 2 or 3 convoys of 500 / 1000er units, the Game behave rather slowly, like molasses on a cold day.

-------------------------

Anyway, will there be quad-core support for coming Patrizier??

Well, due to some environmental factors, my actual Game was
infected with Hanse-wide Riga's Disease, that caused a total collapse of
neonate population.

Joke aside, recent discussions made me realized that I made a serious
mistake... Afterwards, I really wondered how could this happened. In a
Game with such a big pretention to expose a very rapid combustion...I
completely excluded Town Pillagings apart from equation editor.
Unwarrantable sin!..

After an extraordinary meeting between underground Pirate Partei High
Council members at Bornholm Island, I was declared guilty. Any bribery
or third party interventions accepted. The tough reality was imposed
with below declaration of Verdict:

"MoS von Baulöwensburg,

While Council members appreciate your to-date efforts in the shining of
Pirate's global image, they were judged highly incomplete in the making
of your actual career. You have, after the declaration date of this
document to you, to begin your venture as a Shopkeeper again, and later
on, show all facets of the Game and of your style...in parallel with
this purpose."
